Private residence, Maasmechelen. In progress.
This new construction fuses the specific living and working situation of a single family. The green surroundings of the building plot are being taken in to the maximum by large panoramic openings in both volumes towards the garden behind, whilst being more closed towards the street in the front. This is done to ensure sufficient privacy for its users. The shifted implantation of both shapes not only creates an exciting architectural tension but also defines the importance of use of the volumes. Brick garden walls and rounded facades are there not only to guide visitors, but also highlight the craftsmanship of the traditional masonry that is being used.
